Spinning wheel on porch of farmhouse

This Saturday Island Farm will host the first ever Historic Trades Day. Area farmers relied on skilled tradesmen and women of their communities in the 1850s. Join us as demonstrations highlight the various professions practiced by historic residents of the Outer Banks. Trades may include: blacksmithing, laundress, spinner, yaupon tea-making, candle-making, leather and sail maker. A local fiber artist will be working the antique loom in the visitors center. Edgecombe Community College Professor Monika Fleming will present Cemetery Restoration at 1pm.  Admission is $6 for ages 6 and up.
